TALLAHASSEE, FL – Secretary of State Glenda E. Hood announces an art exhibition entitled “Florida’s Hidden Places,” by Ocala artist Jacquelyn Modesitt Schindehette. Organized by the Office of Cultural and Historical Programs, this exhibition will be on display from March 1 – May 27, 2005, in Governor Jeb Bush’s Gallery. The exhibition is part of the Florida Department of State’s Capitol Complex Exhibition Program. “The Department of State is pleased to host this exhibition,” said Secretary Hood. “Jacquelyn Schindehette’s work depicts Florida’s hidden yet natural and breathtaking landscapes. Her technique, composition and imagery serve well in escalating public awareness about the importance of preserving these beautiful sites.” Jacquelyn Schindehette studied at the Art Students League in New York City, and with premiere Florida landscape artist A.E. "Bean" Backus. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States and is included in numerous private and public collections, including the State of Florida's, MBNA American Bank, Baskin-Palmer Eye Institute, and Florida Power and Light Co. "I believe that art is as necessary to our heritage as the history book. Both record past and present in the effort to educate and enrich the lives of people today and in the future. It is my endeavor, through my paintings, to record for later generations some of the beauty of nature that exists in my lifetime," said Schindehette.
